Episode 213 - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

On the penultimate episode of the #SBE2015, the gang tackles possibly the worst adaptation of Alan Moore's work yet, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! Why does Mr. Hyde look like a giant man-ape? What's with Dorian Gray being such a sleaze? And who in their right mind was asking for Tom Sawyer?! PLUS: The gang bids a fond, if temporary, farewell to one of their own.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen stars Sean Connery, Naseeruddin Shah, Peta Wilson, Tony Curran, Stuart Townsend, Shane West, Jason Flemyng, and Richard Roxburgh; directed by Stephen Norrington.

The show won't be the same without you, Chris. The best of luck in whatever you're doing next and hope you're back on the show sooner than expected.

Sean Connery was actually offered the role of Gandalf in LOTR--supposedly he didn't understand it. Looks like we all dodged a bullet there. See http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/worklife/10/20/mf.rejected.movies/index.html

Looking forward to the new season now you've got rid of the dead wood

Seriously, though, all the best to Chris and success in his new endeavors. It won't be the same without him.

This link showed up on my facebook feed so I decided to give it a shot. You guys certainly don't make your show accessible to newcomers. If that's your thing - just playing to your hardcore audience - more power to you. But for someone who was potentially interested, I listened for 4 minutes and still didn't know anyone's names or what the show was really about. I stuck it out because I was listening at 11:30pm and didn't have anything else to do, but under normal circumstances I would've left. Maybe this was not the norm, but just giving the outsiders perspective - hard to get into. (Pretty good stuff if you stick it out, though!)

Gonna miss the Chris.

Hi Nathaniel,

We give out our names at the start of every show. Maybe you missed that part? But for 214 episodes now, we've started every show by introducing ourselves one by one, first and last name.

I'm glad you stuck it out and wound up enjoying the show. I really hope you continue to check out more episodes.

Thanks for the feedback,
