Episode 139 - After Earth

In this week's episode, the gang kicks off their Worst of 2013 month with the totally snooze-worthy, secret M. Night Shyamalan film, After Earth! Could the acting get any stiffer? Why is Lil' General getting jammed down our throats? And where are those aliens they kept talking about at the beginning? Plus: America's fastest growing quiz sensation - "After Earth or Oblivion?"

After Earth stars Jaden Smith, Will Smith, Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo; "directed" by M. Night Shyamalan.

Hey guys, is there any chance you can throw in a recommendation for a good movie you saw this year at the end of these episodes like you did last year? I really enjoyed hearing what you guys liked last year

Thanks for the shout-out to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. It's one of the finest institutions on the planet.

If you only have two dimes to rub together, send one of them to Saint Jude's.

"Oblivion had a really solid twist ending."

Enhhhhh... I don't know about that. Maybe if it hadn't been very clumsily telegraphed, I guess? I mean, it treats Tom Cruise meeting a clone of himself like a big shock, but it plays in such an over-dramatic fashion that by the end, you're just wishing he would hurry up and turn his head already.

Regardless, another great episode.

I spent the whole movie waiting for the Shyamalan twist too. Here's what I figured would go down:

*little Smith gets to the mountain and signals a rescue ship*
Rescuers: You're alive! We'll take you to the mothership or some shit.
*later, on the ship*
Little Smith: Did you pick up my dad too? Can I see him?
Crew: Sure, come to the medical bay.
*big Smith is lying there, stone cold dead*
*(emotional moment)*
Little Smith: I wish I could have said goodbye, and thanked him. Without his help, I never would have made it.
Crew: But little Smith...his LifePak indicates that he's been dead since the ship crashed.
DUN DUN DUN
*montage of Will telling Jr all the shit about "your head makes its own reality" and whatnot.*

Bam, there, I just improved the movie like 500%, gonna have another beer to celibrate.
